DESCRIPTION: It’s time to spruce up the most used room in our house. Our den is where we do most of our family living, TV watching, going outside, etc. We enjoy super clean lines, modern style. We are considering new travertine floors and a fireplace makeover. We don’t want to change the color of the TV built-in because it matches the cabinets in our adjacent kitchen. We’d like to keep our taupe rug and replace all of the seating. We have enjoyed the low maintenance of our current black leather sectional but we know it’s time for a change. The room measures approx 116″w x 121″d. Can we find a way to combine contemporary with comfort?
- Replace the sectional with the Paolo Double Reclining sofa in the rich camel-color leather.
- Use the McKenzi modern oval coffee table with rotating top in chrome and black.
- Purchase two Avenue Six black glass end tables for each side of the sofa.
- Use the Aleta black and chrome table lamps on each end table.
- Hang a Jonathan Adler Ventana nickel wall sconce on each side of the shutters above the sofa.
- Purchase two Baxton Studio Wassily Chairs to create conversational seating.
- Use two small Martini side tables from West Elm near each of the chairs.
- Add color to the room by replacing the mirror above the fireplace with an abstract oil painting from Plummers Furniture.
- Replace the stone surround of the fireplace with a stone matchstick mosaic like the Bastoni Circo from Arizona Tile. Replace the logs with glass in a warm smoke color.
- If you do choose travertine floor tile, try something different and install in a chevron – herringbone pattern.
