Well, I never thought I would have anything in common with Tom Hanks.
But soon, I will be taking the plunge into owning a summer getaway house and taking inspiration from one of his well-loved movies.
20 years ago, I was introduced to a different kind of dwelling while watching Sleepless in Seattle. 15 years ago, I was thrilled to learn my aunt and uncle actually acquired one. Now, as luck would have it, they are moving to sunny Palm Springs and I have the opportunity to purchase their floating A-Frame home in Portland.
So if all the stars align, I will soon be entering the quirky and spirited houseboat community. I’ve got my water wings, sketch pad, and measuring tape ready to start planning for a full-blown remodel to be completed next summer.
