"My wife and I were lucky enough to have Design Vision Studio take us on as clients - working to "De-Tuscanize" our poor confused house. Our first house as a family - a house where one would argue it was put together by someone who never had the privilege of spending time in Italy.
DVS is way better than a marriage counselor! They took in my wife's ideas, which I didn't particularly like; my ideas - which my wife completely despised; sprinkled in our 7 year old sons' vision, newborn daughter, and took into consideration all our pets. Design vision studio was incredible! We purchased a new single family home from a builder in La Quinta with the intention of converting the property into a part time short term rental. Without a doubt, the decision to work with Patricia and Kelli was one of the best decisions in the home buying process. Their 30 day design program was the perfect solution to get our desert home renovation started on the right foot, and to provide inspiration for the selection of art, furniture and light fixtures. There came a time in 2019 when I needed to update my home in Palm Springs. I was caring for a elderly family member, and the home needed to be refreshed with "aging in place" design ideas and products. Patricia came to my home, interviewed my family, and shortly thereafter returned with a complete soup-to-nuts design package that accomplished three key elements. 1) Patricia addressed the ADA needs in my home, 2) Patricia addressed the design preferences voiced in our first meeting, and 3) Patricia had a coordination plan with our contractor to execute the whole-home makeover efficiently and cost effectively.

"I am so fortunate to have met Patricia of Lockwood Interiors at the time that I did. Last fall, I had a plumbing leak while being out of town which flooded 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, all of the closets, and all of the hallways of my home. Within days, I had people moving all of my belongings into storage. Dry wall, flooring, baseboards, bathroom vanities, and much more were completely demolished. "I feel very lucky to have discovered Lockwood Interiors. At my wit’s end after several unsuccessful meetings with interior designers, Patricia entered my life in the nick of time with affordable fees and sage advice.
I purchased a relatively new home in La Quinta that I fell in love with for its floor plan and location. The downside was that it came with a traditional or Italianesque persuasion and my tastes run more contemporary or Bohemian. My goal was to tastefully incorporate my style into this home without the greater expense of starting over. I also had some very sketchy ideas about how I’d like to improve the courtyard and master bathroom.
Patricia walked me through the process of blending paint colors to complement the home’s mixture of granite, tumbled marble, brick, carpeting, cherry wood cabinetry and white molding with my contemporary art and furniture pieces. To complete the task, Patricia hired a fantastic faux painter to create interesting texture or layering on specific ceilings and walls. I wasn’t in La Quinta for most of the work… but no worries… she managed everything. I showed up now and then to approve the work. Done!
After the painting was complete, she further transformed the home with a few more pieces of furniture, new lighting and ceiling fans for every room; sliding wooden doors that double as art to create privacy between the bed chamber and the master bath and an upgraded courtyard fence with arched wrought iron gate and trellis system. Patricia did all of the shopping, designed the bedroom doors, fence and even some custom-made furniture. She recycled a pair of my armchairs (long out of favor) with new upholstery for use in the master bedroom. Perfect transformation!"

"I contacted Lockwood Interiors after reading the many positive reviews here. I was looking for a professional design team that could partner with me to update my newly purchased home in La Quinta. I met with several firms while I was in town and ultimately was most impressed with Kym from Lockwood who was extremely professional in our initial consultation. She had a prepared list of questions to get to know me better and clarify my expectations for the project. Other firms I interviewed, while I'm sure they were qualified, did not give me the sense of being as organized, which was especially important to me given that I live out of town and needed solid local coordination. I appreciated Lockwood's billing model which is based on consulting hours with no markup for specific furniture recommendations. Given that this was my first time working with a designer team, this was a big plus for me. "The project involved a total demolition of a 3 bedroom 2 bath 2,000 sq foot home in a 20 year old gated community. We provided Lockwood with little direction other than to describe we wanted a clean, simple, "California fresh" look. We gave them a swatch of quilting fabrics and a new bedspread for color ideas. Lockwood provided a pallet of color, textures and finishes, a furniture layout plan and a kitchen design supplier. They guided us through furniture selection. They presented a complete package of lighting, flooring, paint and accessories. If there was any one piece we did not like, they went back and found another excellent choice. Other times, they remained firm on certain elements.... After all, they are the designers and they were right! Patricia, Kym and Sarah were excited about our project. "When we bought our house and were considering design and decorating needs, my first response was "oh, I can do this myself!" However, being that this home is not our primary residence and we live in another state, I was concerned with how to approach it from afar - and to do it efficiently and keep an eye on costs.
I began to research professionals on Houzz who could help us with our project. Pretty quickly I zeroed in on Design Vision Studio. The photos that they posted on their site were terrific and I felt that Patricia and Kym would be a good fit for us - so off we went to talk with Patricia and Kym and to engage DVS's services!
Here are some things I would say about Patricia and Kym:
They got to know us personally before beginning the project - to understand what we were like and to know how we planned to use our spaces.
While we live in the home a good deal of the time, it is also used as rental property and we didn't want to go over the top financially. We wanted it to be very comfortable and homey, but also to attract vacation rentals. Our final result is fantastic and renters compliment it all of the time!
They listened to us if we had alternate ideas or challenged a particular decision on something. And they were certainly responsive if we had an issue.
While we didn't necessarily have a budget, they were cost conscious in recommending selections and options. They helped my husband have a comfort level that by using DVS's contacts in the industry, we were getting great value on our purchases.
My tendency is to go with 'safe and neutral' pieces [furniture, artwork, etc.]. However, Patricia & Kym pushed us a bit out of our comfort zone on a few pieces in order to make a 'wow' statement in the room. I am so glad that we just trusted their judgment and let them do it! Even the furniture delivery guys made comments on some of the cool pieces.
Plus, they're fun ladies to work with!
